Xiaomi launched MIUI 11 in India on October 16th and revealed its release schedule for many of its phones. It's exciting that Xiaomi is introducing MIUI 11 to older devices such as Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4. When it comes to upgrading itself, Xiaomi made a lot of visual improvements this year so it's very exciting. And, if your phone is registered for MIUI 11 then you'll need to find out what new feature you're looking for.
Here, from the UI changes to hidden features, we discussed every aspect of MIUI 11. Besides that, we also offered some tips along the way so that you can take advantage of the new features in your everyday life. That said, I'm going to jump right
Minimalist Design
While there is no doubt that MIUI is packed with tons of features, Xiaomi deserves a fair share of criticism for its inconsistent user interface and endless feature cramming without any serious consideration given to user experience. Frankly, I love MIUI, but I can't help but nitpick the little inconsistencies: no uniformity in the shape of an icon, jittery animation all over the place, and an obsolete language of design. Both my critique, though, will come to rest with MIUI 11. Finally, Xiaomi brings with MIUI 11 a clean and minimal Android fork. MIUI 11 appears very sophisticated from the first glance and maintains the concepts of layout in the interface.
MIUI 11 has a new Classical theme, which supports the shape of the icon from the box and I really love it. In order to fit the new icon, Xiaomi has also redesigned all its native applications. The apps look consistent and synchronized with the overall user interface. In addition, the animation feels pretty smooth across apps and settings and consistent.
The settings tab looks much cleaner and the new colorful icons are available to boot. Xiaomi stated that the MIUI 11 was designed to provide a full-screen experience and it does. You'll enjoy it as soon as MIUI 11 comes running globally on October 22, 2014. The UI has fewer lines and boxes to focus on content again.
Mi share
Mi Share is the next important feature of MIUI 11 that is very beneficial and will make file sharing a breeze through smartphones. It's an AirDrop alternative on Android where you can easily share files within seconds and without any time-consuming pairing process. As of now, Xiaomi has partnered with Oppo, Realme, and Vivo to make this feature easier for their smartphones. Xiaomi claims you can send files up to 82MBps locally and that's just amazing. The "Connection and Sharing" menu on the Settings page lets you find My Share. It worked just like AirDrop. We tried to share files using Mi Share. The transmission rate was quick and the connection did not drop. This feature is implemented over different devices and will make file sharing much easier.
Ambient Display Customization
Xiaomi showed up on supported devices (Redmi K20 series, Mi 9, etc.) in a brave move last year, but with MIUI 11 they take it one step further and bring numerous options to customize it for ambient visualizations. You can choose from several options: animated clocks, fun backgrounds and not to forget to write your own moving quotation. You have many different options. Indeed, this configuration rate makes you appreciate MIUI 11 to a large extent.
However, if you disable AoD to save the battery, well there is another way you can receive notifications without burning the power. You can enable the "Notification light up" animation under the Ambient Display Settings. It will light up the corners of your display whenever you receive a notification. How awesome is that?
Ultra Battery Saver
MIUI was always concerned with providing functions useful for the masses. Xiaomi's phones already come in battery saver mode, but besides the normal one, MIUI 11 provides yet another ultra-battery saving feature. It deactivates all the context, resource-intensive cores to reduce performance and ultimately save battery. Just essential features are retained without background sync, such as calling, texting, and Internet connectivity. In comparison, the wallpaper is converted into the black tone and all transitions are disabled.
Xiaomi promises you can go on for a full day if just 5% of the available battery is activated by Ultra Battery Saver mode and if you are heading to a remote location or in a hard situation without a power source this MIUI 11 app is going to make the day for you.
Force Dark Mode
You can force any app to use the dark mode. when your device is eligible for MIUI 11 based on Android 10. On Stock Android, the Developer Options option "Override Dark Mode" is available. Xiaomi, however, has on the display page the same functionality as' global black mode.' It works on apps such as Telegram and the Security Apps and we tested this feature for MIUI 11. You can also schedule dark mode according to your choice, which is awesome.
Improved File Manager
MIUI 11 adds a host of new changes to its native File Manager software. You can now easily scan for files because the software allows thumbnails for all sorts of formats. In fact, without needing a further request, you can access PDF, DOCX, or any other Office documents. The document viewer is powered by WPS Office for what it is worth. This is so. The new update should make it even more convincing when you already are a follower of the MIUI native File Manager.
Mimoji camera
In-Camera Earlier, you had to download a separate app to use Mimoji on Xiaomi devices. Mimoji is however built directly into the camera software for MIUI 11. At the bottom of the Mimoji tabs, you can start creating your lively emoji. Now Mimoji promotes head movements, mouth detection and a certain amount of facial expression. It's not as advanced as Animoji from Apple, but you can certainly try for a lot of fun.
8. Task manager
Xiaomi offers tasks to make your day productive with minimum friction, with the help of MIUI 11. Tasks are not a separate application, but they are integrated into the Notes app. You can pick up your to-do list in the Notes app and create a task with a simple left-hand device simultaneously. Besides that, the tasks are also synchronized with my calendar, so that you are remembered. In addition, you can also create voice recording tasks quickly.
Calculator
Another feature that I absolutely love, is the revised calculator on MIUI 11. We save our financial transactions in a note application most of the time. If we want to calculate something, we must go through the calculator application to enter the details. It makes the taxation of the entire experience and the possibility of incorrect data entry is present. Xiaomi brought a floating mixer with MIUI 11 to solve this problem. The floating calculator can be found on any page to calculate the sum effortlessly. This is very useful and saves a great deal of time.
Dynamic video wallpaper
Interactive Image Wallpaper is exceptional in its nature, but also gimmicky. However, with MIUI 11, both your home and lock screen wallpaper could configure a personalized image. Every time your device is unlocked, the video is just like live wallpaper in the background. You can also activate the sound, but that's a stretch. In any event, you can just set the Gallery device to interactive video wallpapers.
Keyboard
MIUI 11 comes with a new Mint keyboard which is already available in the Play Store. Xiaomi has partnered to support many regional languages with the Bobble keyboard. Including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi and 25 other languages. The keyboard is also quite rich in features and can support GIFs, stickers and transliteration. Moreover, even in the vernacular language, it can recommend emojis to do well.
Child mode
Kid Space is the prestigious Baby mode, which was available with advanced features in previous versions of MIUI. This helps you to restrict the screen time of your baby and block other apps or websites remotely. You can also tell your children to overcome a challenge in order to get extra time on your computer. Kid Space is still alpha, therefore, and is actually only conducted in China. So, we don't realize when and how it'll be worldwide. The functionality is however quite exciting and we can't wait for the stable launch to check it out.
New Dynamic Sound Effects
Xiaomi brings a new complex sound effect to MIUI 11, which is close to what Google launched with the Sounds app. This offers ringtones, an alarm sounds and alerts a graphical style. MIUI 11 has a broad range of dynamic sound features, which can be performed according to the day's period and mood. For eg, you have a morning Sunrise ringtone, evening Sunset, etc. Therefore, MIUI 11 will sense whether a request from a taxi or food service is provided and can, therefore, play a different ringtone. The dynamic sound effect is certainly unique and can sometimes be relaxing
So enjoy the latest miui11
That was our comprehensive review of MIUI's recent iteration and what new features it provides. We have tried to cover all the main aspects of MIUI 11 and have mentioned certain minor features that may sometimes be useful. That's all of us.
