Now you Drag and Drop Tabs from Any Other Browser

Google Chrome works on a feature that allows users to drag and drop tab from any browser supporting tabs. In the latest version of Chrome Canary, a Chrome flag was introduced to test its compatibility.

The flag is named "Browser Type Tabs Mix" and the flag definition says "Possibility for dragging tabs between browsers supporting tabs, including software, including Mac, Windows, Linux, Chrome OS."

Google's bold move with the "Any browser that supports tabs" declaration seems quite optimistic, as the decision to add support is focused on non-Chromium browsers like Firefox.

Despite the availability of the flag, it does not seem to work because other browsers still have no additional compatibility to the feature or the feature itself is incomplete and a placeholder flag has just been added by the Canary team.

In the upcoming updates, the flag should be functioning. You can keep the flag enabled by pasting the below address into the address bar of your Chrome Canary browser if you have the latest Chrome version of the program.

It's worth noting, however, that no assurance exists if this feature ever reaches the stability of Chrome as Chrome Canary is regarded as an experimental browser with additional functionality to test its performance and feasibility. A large number of shortlists exist and compatibility tests should be approved to include a new feature in Google Chrome's secure builds.

Looking at the potential of this feature, I hope it's arriving in the coming months to Google Chrome. Stay tuned for further updates as we follow the flag and update if the feature is live for everyone.
