A few months after Realme CEO Madhav Sheth announced plans to launch 5 G devices by the end of the year, the company officially began promoting its first 5 G handset, the Realme X50. The device's name was verified Monday by the Chinese company's CMO, Xu Qi Chase, who revealed on Weibo that the mobile would be introduced in China in the weeks to come.

As can be seen in the image above, Chase's teaser has the outline of a device with two cameras in an elliptical punch-hole format that indicates a dual selfie-cam configuration. The announcement that it would accept dual-mode (SA / NSA) 5 G networking is even more remarkable, and seems to be the standard for 2020.

There is no more details on the new phone at this stage, but in the days ahead we will certainly learn more about it. It will be fascinating to see if the X50 was indeed the device the firm had in mind when it revealed plans to launch this year's dual-mode 5 G smartphone powered by an unannounced 700-series Snapdragon processor.

In that case, we can expect the Realme X50 to be powered by the rumored Snapdragon 735 SoC, the first non-flagship Qualcomm processor to offer 5 G connectivity. In the meantime, we don't have a precise launch date for either the Realme X50 or the Redmi K30, but it's certainly going to be interesting to see their place on the market as both smartphones are expected to debut with 5 G dual-mode support in the coming weeks.
