As if reports about a Pixel Watch were not enough, it is reported that Google is now planning
to buy one of the biggest competitors of Apple Watch — Fitbit.
The report comes from Reuters (via The Verge), and while there is no confirmation
that there is definitely a deal on the books, the interest of the company in Fitbit may
well, be a definite sign that it is at least working on some kind of smartwatch.

In January this year, Google purchased Fossil's "alternative software," one of the few
WearOS watchmakers worth — for $40 million. The company didn't give details of exactly
what it purchased from Fossil, but this deal was an important factor for people to ask themselves
if this year, at its Made by Google case, Google would release an internal smartwatch.
It didn't happen, though, but the talk of this new acquisition will do nothing to stop the
rumors of a potential Pixel Watch.

Google was actually working on a smartwatch in 2016, however, because Google became
worried that It should decompose the identity of the Android hardware branding,
the plan was abandoned.

Since then, as it does the pixel smartphone, we've been waiting for Google to create
its own smart clock, assuming that we will eventually be able to get a WearOS tracker,
which will clash with Apple Watch and remains influential in a smartwatch, except the
Gear lineup of Samsung, which doesn't use wearOS until now.

Whether this purchase is really really happening needs to be seen, and even
if it does this refers to a smartwatch with Google branding. We're going to keep
an eye open, though, so come back several days.
